Entry-Level Developer

You want to be a software developer. Most jobs require experience, but you need a job to gain experience! The Mindvalley Entry Level Developer (ELD) programme wants to change that. We are looking for zero or minimal experience, technology passionate graduates, career changers, and anyone returning to work after a hiatus.

An ELD position is the gateway to a career at Mindvalley. We want to help craft and grow the next generation of developers, we want to provide that final stepping stone toward your dream career - the one that is often missed by today’s university degrees.

Tech at Mindvalley

Due to the unique environment that Mindvalley has in terms of having its own ecosystem of applications that support the business, working with us in a technical role is a great challenge.  

We generally look for attitude over aptitude when it comes to technical skills, a history of proven execution and excellent root cause analysis problem solving skills are things that we value highly.

We predominantly build apps with an nginx, Unicorn, Ruby, Redis and PostgreSQL architecture on Linode so you will be learning how to use all of these tools. But we also use Python, Elixir, PHP, and JavaScript.

You will also be getting hands on with our entire software ecosystem which covers services such as:

  • Payment processing (both check-out and backend)
  • Media streaming (live and repeated)
  • Serving websites to large audiences (high concurrency)
  • In-house customer service tools
  • Financial reporting
  • Shipping & logistics
  • E-mail handling (sign-ups, cohort analysis etc)
  • Authentication, identification & user data collection/analysis
  • In-house CMS for large numbers of generated sites

Engineering Culture

The Mindvalley tech team maintains a very progressive attitude. We are not willing to compromise on quality, we seek to adhere to the Agile Manifesto, especially striving to “build projects around motivated individuals” as we move towards being remote-friendly company.

Our engineers are trusted and empowered to do their work in the way that best suits them - whether you are an early bird or late riser! The only expectation that persists is that you grow and adapt in a way that is best for your team and the company at large. This is why our teams regularly pause for periods of reflection (retrospectives), to inspect how work has been done, and how we can be doing it better. Therefore, at all times, all developers are given an opportunity to speak up, offer opinions and help make your team better - from day one!

There are certain, small, constraints during the ELD programme. This programme is intended to radically level you up by working closely with your peers and a dedicated mentor, this can only happen effectively when we are sat together. Therefore, all ELDs are encouraged to work from the office as often as possible during the programme.

The Programme

Our ELD programme takes a radically different approach by having you and other developers solve problems and learn together, in a format called Mob Programming. You will not be coding on your own. You will be coding in a team of 2 to 4 peers for 3 months. No experience is required as you will be trained by a dedicated Senior Developer and mentor.

In addition to coding, a Mob Programming team does almost all their work together: build, learn, troubleshoot, talk with customers, test and have fun! Gone are the days of stressfully proving your worth, now is the time of collaborative learning and growth.

Through collaborating as a Mob, you and your peers will become familiar with real software development as fast as possible. We want you to feel what it is like to add value, be responsible for the code you write, work as a team and enjoy the fulfillment of maximum productivity.


This will be a company onboarding and training unlike any you have ever experienced. You will be expected to bring your best, your most attentive and collaborative self to the office everyday. Your own growth and how much you take away from this programme is your primary responsibility.


As this will be a highly collaborative role, having great communication skills is a must. Together with your teammates, you will be learning, discussing, brainstorming, problem solving, and of course coding where your communications skills will be highly valuable.

You will be learning a lot, so organization and time-management skills will play important roles in your success in this program.
